• Study the proposed COC model to ensure your team understands the spirit and important details.
• Study the sourceforge.net's site on issues such as:
  • Objectives
  • Services provided
  • Types of users
  • Ways to attract different kinds of users
  • Procedure for setting up and evolving OS projects
  • Technology used
  • A brief initial study.
• Study the Rice's Connexions project on issues such as:
  • courseware model
  • CNXML (briefly, may depend on the work of project #2)
  • service provided
  • Method of collaboration
  • Procedure for setting up and evolving COC projects
  • Types of users
  • Ways to attract different kinds of users.
  • Technology used.
• A detailed chart comparing Connexions and COC will be desirable.
• Specifying requirements of the COC prototype.
  • Answer the same set of questions similar to the Connexions project.
  • Which functionality to be implemented in the prototypes.
  • Detailed specification of the selected functionality.
• Separately, research on open source tools/technologies that can be reused.
• Certain kind of communication with team #2 will be necessary.

Team management pointers:

• Team's website should keep evolutionary versions of requirements.
• Meeting minutes should include description of requirement and design decisions, together with reasons.
• 'Documentation should be done at every step, not as an afterthought.'
