1. Why?

  1. You make the best notes for yourself.
  2. Making notes are engaging activities: learning by doing.
  3. Providing chances for understanding the materials in a much deeper and more effective way.
  4. Provide documentation for review and further exploration.

2. How

  1. Develop your own style.
  2. Copy useful sources and annotate.
  3. Ask questions, deliberate concepts, write examples for the future you.
  4. Tinker by constructing examples and experiments.
  5. Use colors, tables or whatever means to distinguish between concepts.
  6. Visual learning is effective. Have a good snipping and editing tool.
  7. Don't worry too much about format, grammatical mistakes for the moment: quick and dirty notes initially just for yourself.
